2 Days & 1 Night
The 2- Day Tour from Fes to desert is specifically designed for travelers with a limited schedule who still want to experience the majesty of the Sahara. This journey takes you from the bustling streets of Fes through a diverse range of Moroccan landscapes, including the alpine-style town of Ifrane and the ancient cedar forests of Azrou. You will witness the breathtaking palm groves of the Ziz Valley before arriving at the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. The tour features a classic sunset camel trek, a night of traditional music around a campfire, and an overnight stay in an authentic desert camp.
Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your accommodation in Fes. Our first stop is Ifrane, where you can admire the clean streets and the famous lion statue. We then continue to the Azrou cedar forest to feed and photograph the resident monkeys. After lunch in Midelt, the “apple capital,” we cross the Atlas Mountains and descend into the Ziz Valley, stopping for photos of the lush palm oases. By late afternoon, we reach Merzouga, where you will meet your camel caravan for a 90-minute trek into the dunes. After watching the sunset, you will arrive at your camp for a traditional Moroccan meal and an evening of Berber music around the fire.
Today, we recommend waking up early to experience the awe-inspiring sunrise atop the golden dunes. After breakfast at the camp, you can return to Merzouga village via camel or a 4×4 vehicle. Our return journey to Fes includes a stop in Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops and date market. We retrace our scenic route through the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas, with plenty of breaks for coffee and photos. You will arrive back in Fes in the late afternoon or early evening, where we will drop you off at your Riad or hotel.
